Lotus Care (心莲堂), proudly established in 2008 by Dr. Bi Weilian, the mother of Hanbo Hou. As one of the best acupuncturist and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Practitioner in China, Dr. Bi set up the top-tier Acupuncture Clinic, in Dalian, a coastal city in the northeast of China.

Hanbo Hou, the founder of Ottawa’s own ‘Lotus Care’, studied his mother’s work carefully and closely; alongside academic studies at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, where he became a Dr. of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

As an open-minded individual, to widen his scope of knowledge, Hanbo decided to move to Canada in 2018, when he met Janique St-Laurent, a recent graduate of TCM Acupuncture in Toronto.

Following Hanbo and Janique’s marriage in Toronto, they relocated to Ottawa in 2024 and founded ‘Lotus Care Acupuncture & TCM Clinic’ in the versatile city of Ottawa, to provide top-quality acupuncture Ottawa can trust.

The First Nations, Anishinabe name, ‘Odawa’, means ‘To Trade’… Learning this felt like an affirmation of the exchange of cultures that this clinic aims to embody.

Our goal is to be the most authentic TCM and acupuncture clinic in Ottawa, offering a holistic path to wellness while nurturing future TCM students and practitioners.
